Prerequisites

The Amazon EKS Getting Started exercises require the following.

• You have access to an Amazon AWS account and are able to access the AWS Console.
• You have sufficient privileges to create an IAM Role with the default Full IAM Policy to allow the controller to provision resources for the Amazon EKS cluster on your behalf in your AWS account.

The following requirements are based on the provisioning method selected - Web Console, RCTL, or Terraform.

• For the Web Console or RCTL:

  • You have downloaded the RCTL CLI
  • You have downloaded and initialized the CLI configuration

• For Terraform:

  • You have installed Terraform

Note

The instructions describe the process using the web console, RCTL CLI, or Terraform. The same steps can be performed using the REST APIs for automation.
